Backpack Project - Supporting Local Families
Each year, Whitevalley Community Resource Centre helps local families manage the rising costs of back-to-school expenses through our Backpack Project. With inflation and increased financial pressures, many parents struggle to afford essential school supplies.
We believe every student deserves to start the school year feeling confident and prepared—regardless of their financial circumstances.
Funds raised through this initiative are distributed among:
- JW Inglis Elementary School
- Cherryville Elementary School
- Charles Bloom Secondary School
- CrossRoads School
Each school identifies students in need and ensures the funds are used to provide direct support where it’s needed most.
Donations for the Backpack Project are gratefully accepted from April to June each year. Your contribution helps us ensure that all students can start the year with the tools they need to succeed.

Christmas Families - Making the Holiday Season Magical
Each holiday season, we have a special opportunity to come together as a community and spread kindness to those facing challenges during this time of year. Whitevalley Community Resource Centre not only provides essential programs and services year-round, but also supports families and individuals in need through our Christmas Families program.
Families are referred by our counsellors, staff, and local schools, ensuring no one is left out during the season of giving. Every family member receives a thoughtful gift, bringing comfort, joy, and a sense of belonging during the holidays.
We invite community members and businesses to get involved — whether through financial donations, employee matching, gift cards, or by “adopting” a family. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful difference and helps brighten the holiday season for families in our community.
Together, we can make this Christmas a little warmer, brighter, and more hopeful for those who need it most. Sponsorships are accepted starting in October/November of each year. Donations are accepted all year. To find out more contact WCRC at 250-547-8866
